FLEX students will begin arriving in August in waves. The arrival date depends on which country they're from. All FLEX students will overnight in Washington, DC with American Councils staff upon arrival to the U.S. and travel to their host communities the following day, with the exception of MIUSA students.
YES students will begin arriving in August in many waves. All YES students will be attending a 2 or 3-day arrival orientation in DC or NYC upon arrival to the U.S., after which they will travel onward to their host communities or MIUSA workshop. During the YES Arrival Orientation, students will attend workshops on leadership and adjusting to their new life in the U.S. They will also meet with the Department of State Educational and Cultural Affairs Bureau. The country that your YES student is from will dictate when they arrive in the US and their host community.
YES semester students will arrive in January.
Note: It’s important to note that many SP students will likely take time to adjust to their new host community and host family. Thank you for your patience during the initial adjustment period!
