Do you know an outstanding YES or FLEX student? Each month throughout the academic year, the U.S. Department of State’s YES Program and FLEX Program Officers select a YES and FLEX Student of the Month. Each placement organization will nominate students to represent their organization. AFS-USA will choose one YES student and one FLEX student based on the nominations received. Please use this Jotform link to nominate them! This nomination is open for any host parents or AFS volunteers to submit.
In selecting the Student of the Month, the U.S. Department of State considers factors such as:
- impact of a student’s activities in the community and/or at school
- how well the student represents his or her home country
- whether the student has shown a positive and thoughtful spirit within the host family and community
- evidence of personal growth and development on program
The winner will receive a certificate and a small prize, and the announcement of Student of the Month will be publicized on State Department websites and social media. Here are the previous Student of the Month winners from AFS-USA!
